You are not seeing a feed in Focus.
Resolution
If you DO see a light on the Blackmagic Device
- We need to confirm the Cord is ThunderBolt, and not USB-C.
- Here's the difference between a USB-C and ThunderBolt cables.
- Navigate to System Information (Mac) or Device Manager (Windows) to see if the device is recognized.
- Trust or Approve the ThunderBolt Device.
Mac OS

- Open System Preferences Security & Privacy.
- On the General section, if Blackmagic is being blocked, you will be prompted to Allow. Unlock and Allow the Blackmagic software.
- Close and Relaunch the Blackmagic Desktop Setup and select the correct Input (SDI or HDMI).
Windows PC

- Open the Thunderbolt Control Center.
- Confirm the Device Is Listed, and change the setting from Do Not Connect to Always Connect, then click OK.
- You may have to go to the Approve Devices area to change this setting.
You should now see the White Light.
- You may have to go to the Approve Devices area to change this setting.
- Follow the steps below to roll back the Desktop Setup Video Version, and update again.

- Unplug Mini Recorder.
- Use the BM Desktop Video uninstaller to remove the drivers. Reboot.
- Install the latest release from here. Note, for Desktop Video OS Compatibility please refer to this guide.
- Reboot.
- Start up Desktop Video Setup
- Plug-in Mini Recorder. and Uninstall again with the device plugged in. Reboot.
- Install the latest version.
- If on a Mac, Open Security and Privacy and click Allow.
- Reboot.

- If it is still not getting power, then the device may be burned out.

If you DO NOT see a light on the Blackmagic Device
- Launch Desktop Video Setup and confirm that you see the device.
- Click on HDMI/SDI to change how the feed is coming in.
