New, Improved Hub Session Workflow
Focus 9.0 introduces a major upgrade to the Hub Sessions workflow, making post-match collaboration faster and more efficient.
We know that modern post-match workflows can be time-sensitive yet inefficient, especially when timelines and video files are shared manually between several staff working independently. This update changes that - users can now work on their own local copies of the same session, then seamlessly merge them into a single master version in the Hub. This master version can then be used for post-match presentations or leveraged in future workflows, thanks to the existing live editing and sharing features.
For full details on the new functionality, check out the Help Center content.
Session Reuploads With Conflict Resolution
Previously, every Hub upload created a separate cloud version of a session. Now, Focus recognizes if a session already exists in the Hub, and automatically merges local changes into it - without re-uploading the video. This smart merge uses new conflict resolution logic to avoid duplicates and ensure nothing is lost.
What this means:
- You can reupload archive sessions (from server or package) multiple times, and all updates will be applied to the existing Hub session.
- Multiple users can work on separate copies of the same session and seamlessly merge their work into one unified Hub session.
New Hub upload process
- Users are now able to work on their local package as upload to Hub is in progress. All of the changes made during that time will be automatically applied to the uploaded Hub session.
- Focus now automatically switches over to the Hub session on successful upload, allowing the user to continue their workflow in the right place without having to manually switch.
New session upload options
New upload options allow to effectively ‘convert’ the local session into a locally-cached Hub session on successful upload.
Reuse local media for local cache will reuse the local package or server session media as the local cache for the Hub session, such that it does not have to be re-downloaded anymore.
Delete session on successful upload will delete the local package or server session on successful upload, such that the user will be left with only one copy of the session.
Open multiple Hub sessions
Focus now fully supports opening of multiple Hub sessions simultaneously.
Better Channel Management in Hub sessions
Users can now add and remove channels in Hub sessions.
We have added the ability to download, upload, or delete Hub media for selected channels.
Focus now shows channel status indicators for each channel in the Channel Chooser.
Request Access Email Trigger
If a session the user is trying to upload already exists in the Hub, but has not been shared with that user, they have an option to send an email to the original uploader to request access.
Hub Session Backups
Focus now auto-creates a backup file (session.json) every time the user opens or closes a Hub session. Such a file can then be imported into the session to effectively restore the selected version of the session.
- Backups are stored in the folder defined in Settings -> General.
- Up to 100 backups per session are saved.
- Backups are automatically deleted after 14 days.
‘Internet Connection Unstable’ Banner
If your internet connection is unstable and affects video playback, you will see an orange warning banner at the top of the video player.
Hub Indicators in Main Menu and Review Sessions Dialog
We have adjusted the Hub Connection Status indicator in the main menu to inform the user about logging in to Hub.
We have added a Loading Hub Sessions indicator to the Review Sessions dialog.
Improvements and Bug Fixes
New Tag Import Options
We have simplified and standardized tag import behavior across all supported file types. You now have more control when dealing with duplicate tags:
Duplicate matching tags - if any tags in the imported file match tags already on the timeline, Focus will duplicate them to preserve both versions.
Merge matching tags - if any tags in the imported file match tags already on the timeline, Focus will merge these tags, preserving notes and labels from both versions.
Replace matching tags - Focus will replace any existing timeline tags that match tags in the imported file.
Replace all tags - Focus will replace all existing tags on the timeline with the contents of the imported file.
Export Selected Channels
When exporting a session package, you can now choose specific channels to include. This makes it easy to export a lightweight version of a Hub session for offline work, but has benefits for workflows outside of Hub sessions as well.
Other Improvements
- Added a setting to specify how much video is exported either side of a presentation tag when exporting as a package or a Focus Server shared presentation
Bug Fixes
- Fixed: Potential corrupt video playback when interrupting playback (e.g. scrubbing whilst playing)
- Fixed: Tag row colour picker accessed via the context menu was disappearing on open
- Fixed: Offline Hub data could fail to be saved correctly in some circumstances
